Candidate's FAQs

What is Webcand and how does it work?

Webcand is a video interview and recruitment automation platform that gives top tier candidates like yourself the opportunity to conduct a personal video interview on your own time and from the comfort of your own home. Show employers what you’re really about and impress them before you step through the door. Rather than phone interviews, commuting and long wait times to hear back from your dream job, companies who use Webcand are able to connect with you in a timely manner. Your time is precious, so if hiring managers like your Webcand and invite you for the next stage, you know you’re meeting with employers who you’ve already made an impression on beyond your resume.

How do I complete my Webcand interview?

Webcand is easy to use. You’ll receive an email and an SMS text message invitation with detailed instructions on completing your interview. To complete your video interview, you’ll need either a webcam on your PC/laptop or a smartphone. You can take your video interview in one of 2 ways: 1) on desktop by clicking the link sent to your email or 2) on your mobile device by downloading the free Webcand app, entering the email and the code that Webcand gave you. Once you’ve done this, you’ll be asked a set of initial screening multiple choice questions set by the company. For example, they may ask “Do you have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university?” with options “Yes/No” for you to choose from. If you’ve passed these screening questions, you’ll be prompted to take your video interview. The video interview is usually comprised of a number of questions that companies ask pertaining to the job. It’s a pre-recorded interview which means there won’t be anybody else asking you questions on the other side.

Where does my Webcand video go?

Your Webcand video interview will be sent to the hiring managers at the company to which you’ve applied for a position and other relevant persons on the team with input into the hiring decision.

Do I have to create an account?

Candidates do not need to create an account in order to take their Webcand video interview. All that is required is that you complete your interview by clicking the link on the interview invite sent to your email or download the app on mobile and enter the generated code and email.

If I’m applying for multiple positions at the same company that uses Webcand, do I have to take the video again?

If you’ve applied separately for two different positions at the same company and have received two separate interviews, take them both. There are perhaps a different set of questions specifically related to those job positions, including exam questions and screening questions.

I was invited for a Webcand video, answered a few multiple choice questions but didn’t get to take the video interview. What happened?

The initial questions that a company asks before you conduct the video interview relates to a set of screening questions. It acts as a preliminary screening tool to ensure you meet the basic minimum requirements of the job. For example, if you are a sales representative and a requirement of the job is to visit prospective customers, you may have been asked “Do you have a valid driver’s license?” with the options “Yes/No” to answer. If the company has set this as a ‘critical question’ and you fail to answer correctly, you will be screened out and not be prompted to the next round of the video interviews.

I’ve never done a pre-recorded video interview before. Is there any way I can practice beforehand? /Are there any tips?

Prepare for your Webcand video interview like you would any other interview. Before you take your actual interview, you’ll get a set of practice questions to get an idea of how it all works. Once you start your actual interview, there will be a set of interview questions and you’ll get the opportunity to verbally respond. The only other difference is that you won’t have a live person on the other end interfacing with you. Ensure you’re speaking audibly and clearly in addition to having a working webcam/camera to complete the video interview.

What if I mess up, will I be able to re-do my Webcand video?

There are no re-dos to your Webcand video or to any of your questions. If you mess up during an answer, take a breath and try the answer again and continue as you would if you were being interviewed by a live person.

I’m ready to take my interview on my PC/laptop but it doesn’t seem to be working as I’m getting error messages when I click the link. What could be the issue?

Try using a different browser. If the issue persists, please contact support.

I’ve been invited by a company to take a Webcand. Do I have to pay to use it?

There are no costs to candidates who have been invited to complete a Webcand video interview.

I’m trying to take my video interview using my phone but I’m being told my login details are incorrect. What should I do? /What could be the issue?

Ensure you’re using the correct email address that was explicitly given in the email invite. Also take note that you’re inputting the correct code. If the issue persists, please contact support.

I’ve completed my video interview. Now what?

Good job on completing your video interview. You should be hearing from the employers shortly on whether or not you’ve made it to the next stage. Remember to check your emails for future communication from Webcand and the company for which you’ve interviewed. All the best!
